"In March 200, my family immigrated in Canada and soon I experienced the unfortunate reality of not being able to secure a job in my initial field of study (production management). After more than two years of job searching/hopping, I then became desperate for a career change and began searching for a course that could offer me a quick but long lasting solution. A good friend of mine told me of a course she was doing at a college in Scarborough. It sounded interesting and so I contacted C/J College.

I am proud to report that since I was graduating in September 2003- Class Valedictorian, I was successful in obtaining my OSMT designation and now I am employed as a Medical Technician at a doctor’s office, a job which I thoroughly enjoy and find very rewarding. I am also on the waiting list for admission to the “Medical Laboratory Sciences” course.

 The Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician is by no means a walk through course especially for someone who was working nights and going to school fulltime but, it was worth all the sacrifice.

There are a number of job choices available to Medical Laboratory Technicians in the field such as working as a Lab Technician in Hospitals, processing labs, pharmaceutical companies, doctor’s offices and working as a Home Care Technicians.
