Program Objectives The goal of the Community Service Worker program is to provide students with the opportunity to acquire theoretical concepts and training in group work, counseling, community engagement, organizing and development. Graduates of the Community Service Worker program have been helping to contribute the strength and growth of communities across Toronto. Students who value human rights will develop their knowledge and skills for work with individuals, families and community service organizations. The program encourages analysis, creativity and active participation in all modules. In addition to classes students will be able to volunteer and gain valuable field experience within community organizations. Students are required to have a police reference check completed before volunteering in the field. Students are responsible for ensuring that the police reference check covers appropriateness for volunteering and being employed in the field, working with vulnerable person(s). Program of study include: Psychology, Mental Health, Lifespan and Development, Canadian Family Dynamics, Choices, Social Work Practice, Human Relations, Canadian Social Welfare, Sociology and Criminology, Addictions, Keys to Success, Interviewing for Success, Business Communications and Computers.Career Opportunities There are abounding career and work opportunities in this fast-growing field.
